Natalie Langer was born in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, part of suburban Philadelphia. Her early life was typical and uneventful. After graduating high school, she moved to Philadelphia to attend Thomas Jefferson University, and later, the College of Nursing.

Natalie began her career working triage in the emergency room. Spending every work day in a trauma center realigned her worldview. It also became necessary to find a way to blow off steam on her off hours. First, it started with visiting a gym that was popular with her coworkers, but the usual yoga and cardio combo became too routine for her. The nurse gravitated toward a trainer who specialized in martial arts. Her idea of unwinding evolved into spending time in a ring with a sparring partner.

Shortly before her 30th birthday, Natalie transferred to Massachusetts General, and began a new life in Boston. The transfer came with a promotion and a more customized schedule, and new free hours that needed to be filled.

A single-minded person with a propensity toward workaholism, Natalie's social life doesn't extend far beyond the gym and hospital-related functions. Her skills, by necessity, include staying calm under extreme pressure, holding herself together in a crisis, and not blanching at the sight of gunshot wounds. She is also skilled at self-defense, and while only tested in a safe, controlled environment, hand-to-hand combat as well.

Personality-wise, Natalie is friendly and talkative, but uses mild sarcasm and a quick wit to deflect anything that might make her uncomfortable. She is interested in building up a social life, but is unsure of how to go about it. There are facets of her personality that might develop more in social interaction.
